As per question, x = (8/3) * y *100

or y = (300/8) *x = 3750% of x. Hence D

It's a Percents question, not Mixture problem. Edited.

==> according to ivy approach, from x=(8/3)(1/100)y, y=(something)(1/100)x, we get y=(something)(1/100)(8/3)(1/100)y, if we substitute x into y. If we cancel y from both sides of the equation, we get something=3,750. Hence, the correct answer is D.

Plugging in some values might really help here , let \(y = 300\)

So, x = \(\frac{8}{300}*300 = 8\)

Now y as a percentage of x is \(\frac{300}{8}*100\) = \(3750\) , Answer must be (D)

Given that \(x = \frac{8}{3}\)% of \(y\) or \(x = \frac{8}{3} * \frac{1}{100} * y\)

Solving the above equation yields \(y = 37.5 x\) (---->1)

Now, the question asks that \(y\) is what percent of \(x\)?
Let that unknown percentage value be \(a%\). Rephrasing the question to \(y = \frac{a}{100} * x\) (---->2)

Plugging the value of \(y\) from (---->1) to (---->2)

\(37.5x = \frac{a}{100} * x\)

Dividing by \(x\) on both the sides and multiplying with \(100\) on both the sides

\(37.5 *100 = a\)

\(a = 3750%\)

Since the answer choices are spread out, we can BALLPARK by replacing \(\frac{8}{3}\) with \(3\).

x is 3% percent of y:
\(\frac{x}{y} = \frac{3}{100}\)

y is what percent of x?
\(\frac{y}{x} * 100 = \frac{100}{3} * 100 = \frac{10000}{3} =\) more than 3000

Hello,

It's useful to remember that "per cent" literally means per one hundred or out of one hundred so x percent is \(\frac{x}{100}\)

When you see "percent" or the % symbol, you can take the number and put it over 100

Here we are told that x = \(\frac{8}{3}\)%(y)

Put \(\frac{8}{3}\) over 100

\(\\
\frac{8}{3}\) / 100

When a fraction is divided by a fraction, you can take the fraction in the numerator and multiply it by the reciprocal of the fraction in the denominator

If \(\frac{8}{3 }\) is the numerator and \(\frac{100}{1}\) is the denominator, we get:

\(\frac{8}{3} \) * \(\frac{1}{100}\) = \(\frac{8}{300}\)

x = \(\frac{8}{300}\)(y)

In that case, y = \(\frac{300}{8}\)(x) when we divide both sides by \(\frac{8}{300 }\)

\(\\
\frac{300}{8}\) = \(\frac{150}{4}\) = \(\frac{75}{2}\) = 37.5

y = 37.5x

How do we put this in percentage terms?

Well if per cent means divided by one hundred, what number is equal to 37.5 when divided by 100?

Set up an equation:

\(\frac{\\
37.5}{1} = \frac{a}{100}\)

a = 37.5 * 100 = 3,750

37.5 = \(\frac{3,750}{100}\) or 3,750%

Therefore, y = 3,750%(x)

The answer is (D)

What is y percent of x? (y/x) times 100

Keep that as your target and do some algebraic manipulation:

" x is 8/3 percent of y"

x = (8/3) (1/100) (y)

After switching the stuff up and multiplying 100 on both sides you'll get

(300/8) times 100 = 3750
