E. Typically in a time in which athletes

WHEN should be used for time. This rules out B & C.
The action should be in past tense. So,in A HAVE is wrong.
In C, TYPICALLY should come before stayed

Ans: D

I think it's D. Typically should modify stayed, when modify time & the verb tense is past tense.
