Total value imported = 870.

Not tax on 600 or less and 15% on good above 600, 870 - 600 = 270

270 * 15/100 = 71/5 = 35.5

Answer choice (A)

Value on which Tax is levied= 870-600=270
Tax rate 15%= 3/20
Tax value= 270X(3/20)=40.5

\(Tax=0.15*(Value-600)\), \(Tax=0.15*(870-600)=0.15*270=27+13.5=$40.5\)
