This answer choice is stylistically flawed. Using the passive form (are being tested) creates redundancy. Since there is another grammatically correct answer choice that does not use the passive form, it is preferable to this one.


B. In the first clinical program of its kind since the 70s, scientists are testing psychedelic substances for their ability to help patients come to terms with terminal illnesses

This answer choice eliminates the original Stylistic error by changing the sentence from passive to active.


C. Scientists are testing psychedelic substances for their ability to help patients come to terms of terminal illnesses, in the first clinical program of its kind since the 70s

Although this answer choice eliminates the original Stylistic error by changing the sentence from passive to active, it is grammatically flawed because it uses the incorrect preposition of after come to terms.


D. In the first clinical program of its kind since the 70s, scientists are testing psychedelic substances for their ability to help patients come to terms as terminal illnesses

Although this answer choice eliminates the original Stylistic error by changing the sentence from passive to active, it is grammatically flawed because it uses the incorrect preposition as after come to terms.

Although this answer choice eliminates the original Stylistic error by changing the sentence from passive to active, it is not the most concise of the answer choices and creates Redundancy by using the unnecessary phrase in the process of.

The first part is an adverbial modifier, so it's not modifying either noun, but rather the entire clause. The meaning is that scientists are testing these substances, and this testing is happening as part of the first clinical program of its kind since the 1970s.

This answer choice eliminates the original Stylistic error by changing the sentence from passive to active.

Just 1 question, isnt the coloured part modifying scientists when it should modify the psychedelic substances.
