Lots of strong rhetoric in that last post, if I can provide a bit more of a balanced perspective about IMD: I spoke with an alum last year who graduated a few years ago, he was out of a job and commented that he's no longer surprised when recruiters say that they have never heard of IMD. That fact alone should make the decision easy.
It's one thing when the layman on the street hasn't heard of your school, you don't care about that person; you care about recruiters and employers. He also said he had gone to an IMD alumni event and it was all EMBA & others who had done short-term executive programs at the school, not full-time mbas. Makes sense, they only have 90 every year.
I actually was enamored by the school, great location and tight-knit community, but some of the above post confirms a few of my suspicions. There are several 48hr projects where students are encouraged to stay awake the entire 48hrs and completely burnout, it's seemingly an attempt to make people have some type of dream-like euphoric/nirvana experience after they are totally drained emotionally.
I interacted with a number of students and they seemed genuinely fond of IMD, though they also said they can't wait to have their Saturdays back and that it's too short to really appreciate the time since there's few breaks for reflection. For such an expensive, intense program you would think that you shouldn't have to hope the recruiter you're talking to has heard of the school. My 2 cents.
