Totally agree! I used to make note of the absurd things people would say during info sessions (and hope that they'd all apply to the same schools as me and dilute the competition!).

My favorite was a clueless girl who asked the Harvard rep in august (before apps were even released!) "So, you know that people only turn you down for one other school - you know the school. Can you comment on why you think someone would make that choice, and why I should pick Harvard over your competitor."

I'd love to know where she ended up....

It can change very quickly.
My wife is also an elementary school teacher. She teaches in an International school. Lot's of high fliers and people with MBA's on ex-pat packages send their kids to her school. She has the power to reject their applications..... some of those parents can be very very brown-nosey because they don't want their children to be rejected :lol:

In International schools, the parents are also interviewed to see if they are of the right mentality to support the school, so sometimes you would get a good student, but if the parents were obnoxious, arrogant or rude in anyway, their child would get rejected, because the school considers everyone, including the parents, part of the school community.

The D-bag stand out for the students as well. Easiest way to determine if you are a d-bag-- If you are attending an admit weekend and the current students are talking up another school that you got into, they have pegged you as a d-bag.
