Kellog's essays (help in understanding the format)

Hi, Hjort,
Kellogg's essays ask for "one to two pages double-spaced". I just want to confirm it means double line spacing. So I should go to Format=>Paragraph=> double line spacing. Is it correct?
I am wondering how many words to they expect. Two pages w/ double spacing is only around 500 words, which seems too little for a goal essay. And I read some sample Kellogg essays, they are around 1000 words. So it really confuses me. Is it possible to put 1000 words on two pages with double line spacing.
Would you help me to understand the word requirement, please?
Thanks.
