I've been studying the GMAT for about two and a half months. I initially scored a 480 on the first of two official GMAT practice tests. After a lot of discouragement, I studied with even more practice problems and later took the second practice test and received a 500. Following this result, I realized that I had to really maximize my study time by not only utilizing practice questions but also strategy. I believe I really made great strides in these areas.
After about a month of this type of study, I took the
Manhattan Prep GMAT test and scored a 630. I was in the 83rd percentile on Verbal, but only 38% on Quant. So, I decided to more heavily emphasize my Quant study. Just today (about one month after the Manhattan test) I took the Economist GMAT practice test and scored.......a 410. WHAT!????
In retrospect, I realized that I did indeed make a few silly mistakes on both sections. Shockingly, I essentially bombed the Verbal section on my most recent test. Verbal is where I usually perform the strongest (Manhattan - 37 Economist - 21). Quite frankly, I'm at a loss for words here. Sure, I might have neglected my Verbal studies a bit, but such a massive drop is absolutely astounding. In particular, I missed almost all the sentence correction questions, which is actually a section I normally excel in.
My official GMAT test is scheduled for this Saturday, March 4th. I would appreciate any advice that the members of this could provide. I'm planning on pursuing a certificate in a graduate business program at my state university so I only need a 550. After such a bitterly disappointing performance, I'm pretty discouraged. Any help would be great.
