Official Solution:

Of 250 people that were surveyed, 12% responded positively to a question in the poll while 50 refused to answer. If all the rest responded negatively to the question, what is the ratio of the number of people who responded negatively to the number of people who responded positively?

A. 4.333
B. 5.000
C. 5.667
D. 6.333
E. 6.667

The number of people who responded positively = $$0.12*250 = 30$$. The number of people who responded negatively = $$250 - 30 - 50 = 170$$. The required ratio is approximately $$\frac{170}{30} = \frac{17}{3} = 5.667$$.

Total People = 250
Positive Response = 12% of 250 = 10% of 250 + 1 % of 250 + 1% of 250 = 25 + 2.5 + 2.5 = 30
Negative response = Total - Refused response - Positive response = 250 - 50 - 30 = 170
Negative/Positive = 170/30 = 17/3 = A little more then 15/ 3 = A little over 5.
