m=j-5
b=x-3; j=x+5
b+j; 2x+2

Mary = x

Mary has 3 dollars more than Bill has
Mary —— Bill
x ——— x - 3

and 5 dollars less than Jane has
Mary —— Jane
x ———x + 5

Total of Jane and bill = x + 5 + x - 3
= 2x + 2

Given: Mary has x dollars

We can deduce that Bill has x-3 dollar and Jane has x+5 dollars

Therefore, the sum of Jane and Bill is x+5+x-3 = 2x+2(Option D) dollars
