I just want to hear some opinions. What is everyone's take on doing an MBA program out of college and what are the chances of getting to tier 1 with solid grades and GMAT?

Getting into a top tier MBA program without any post-college work experience would be very difficult. You would have to have a very special profile for this to happen. Just good grades and and high GMAT wouldn't be enough.

Even if you did get in you would be at a disadvantage when it came to recruiting. A lot of companies that higher lots of MBAs will say in their job descriptions that you need a certain number of years of experience. For example, one company that I was looking at had two different positions posted for MBA graduates. One required 5 years of work experience and the other required 2.

You are most likely going to be better off finding a job and working for a minimum of 2 years before seeking an MBA.

There are programs meant for graduates (ex. Harvard 2+2) but even this program you will work for 2 years and then go back to school for 2 years. It is NOT recommended to go back to get your MBA right after college b/c the whole point of business school is to build on your business foundations. If you've never held a real corporate type job for an extended period of time you will be disaddvantaged. If you can get into one of the top programs meant for someone like you, then by all means DO IT! Or if you've had some GREAT Internship experience, or extended internships, then maybe it wouldn't be too much of a stretch. But if not, you should try working for a couple/few years and really try to figure out what you want to do, and learn about business. You will get a lot more out of it then, then you will now.

I'm 21 with 4 years of work experience during my first two years of college and the 2 years of work prior to that were working for the city attorney during high school. I've spend a year managing the sales department of a manufacturer between my junior and senior year of school. Does this make me qualified with only one year of managerial experience?

what did you do during that time? was it full time (40 hrs) or part time?
what leadership experiences do you have at work and outside work?

what do you plan to do after MBA? if I were recruiting on your campus, why would I consider hiring you?

what's your GMAT score? what's your GPA and from which school?

I am not trying to discourage you. I sincerely ask you look at the statistics posted by the business school you are targeting in terms of age, experience, undergraduate degree, GPA, GMAT. If you are an outlier as per those statistics, then you will most likely not get admitted to any of your dream school. keep the fire running, but find a job that interests you and excel at it. the business schools will be there when you come back ready.
