After my trip to Kellogg for DAK, I definately got the impression that Kellogg MBA students love to party (DAK, KWEST, Ski Trip, TG, etc seem like nothing more than an acceptable excuse to ingest copious amounts of alcohol). What other b-schools out there are known for having a good time? Which ones aren't?

I think most schools (outside of BYU) will have lots of single (and a small number of married) people who party hard. Personally I think Kellogg is no more of a party school than most. It does have a large student body so there might be a larger number of partiers but not a much higher percentage.

On all those trips, KWEST, Ski Tip etc there are definitely people there to party but there are also people there for other reasons. Lots of Kwest trips have minimal alcohol either because of location or the amount of physical activity. I know people who went on ski trip to ski and were in bed by 10 so they could be on the first chair in the morning. TG, doesnt really have heavy drinking at all...its usually just people hanging out talking and having a few beers. I think the only one where lots of people get drunk is the drag show TG and thats the guys going on stage who need liquid courage to dress as women infront of 1500 people.

That said, I think most schools will have similar set ups. Nights like TG are common at most schools, schools have trips and social events where some students will be there solely for the parties. Honestly, the level of partying should not play a factor in deciding your school choice. You can go to any school and find a crowd who likes to party like you do. I know a large number of people who dont drink at all, have the rare adult beverage, or will maybe have one or two at most when out...and yes I know some who probably need to get carried home on a routine basis but this is no different than normal distribution of people in their mid 20's to early 30's. Heck I know executives in their late 30s who party like undergrads on weekends, I am related to some.

river, of course you are absolutely correct, whereever and whenever you get a bunch of single 20 somethings and 30 somethings together you are going to have debauchery. I wasn't trying to criticize Kellogg specifically, I was just curious if within the B school community, one or two are really known as hard partying, while others may not be. Personally, I don't drink and I'm married, so its not really an issue for me.
