Hi ParameswaranS,
Thanks for reaching out!
You have a strong academic background, and I'm glad you're thinking ahead to your MBA plans. Yes it is possible to gain admission at age 30, and you will have clear reasons for why that is the best time for you. It does mean you'll need to be smart about your school choices -- opting for a range of schools from stretch to safety, and applying to some European programs where the average age is a bit higher. But there's plenty of time to finalize your school choices. In the meantime, the most important thing is GMAT! Your score will be valid for 5 years, so you can take that whenever you feel prepared. I would target a score over 740 if you want to aim for the very top schools.
Otherwise, I would continue to focus on being an excellent performer at work, taking initiative to take on lead roles. It would also be great to boost your activities outside of work, like volunteer work, and take on leadership roles there too. If it's possible to gain any international experience, via work assignment, conferences/trainings, or even extended personal travel, that would be a nice bonus.
Keep up the good work overall!

Hi everyone,
This is my first ever post in GMAT club. I am an mechanical engineering student with 5 years of experience in an OEM-Two wheeler manufacturing company based in India, and currently I am pursuing Bachelors in Engineering as a full time student (Mechanical). I will have to work for three more years in the same company after graduation. So in total I will have 8 years of experience before applying to Business schools.
The diploma degree is from an Polytechnic college affiliated to AICTE,India and Bachelors is with an major university in Tamilnadu, India. I have 86% percentage in Diploma and in BE 8.96/10CGPA as aggregate. As I am willing to do MBA after three years of working, in countries preferably like US, UK, Singapore, & also considering European countries as various options. I am yet to start GMAT preparations and I will likely to take it up after an year from now(Had an mock test and scored 650. I am the first person to have an engineering degree and also first in attending an university from my family side. My age now is 27 and I will be able to apply for MBA only when I am 30 due to some unavoidable circumstances.
I have various volunteering experiences in community causes as well as helping in crisis to various people. I also worked as an SME in training the trainees in my organisation, part of the team which planted close to 400+ trees, have leadership and volunteering experience in academic levels in various fronts, have been promoted three times in 5 years in my first job.
So my query is, will I be able to enter into business schools with this background at the age of 30 years ? Is it really possible to get an admission at that age with my mixed experience in some good universities say INSEAD, Booth, IE, HBS, Wharton ?
I am looking forward for suggestions, that is it okay to go forward in the direction of Preparing myself for the MBA degree ? I know that the decision is mine, but still I wanted to gather some information before plunging deep. Thank you all in advance for your ideas and information.
