Hi Vivek,
think you have got good score for the schools you have mentioned. for your queries,
1. yes a balanced score is looked favorably by B-schools. But that does not mean, with V-31, you do not stand a chance. applicants with 780 GMAT are denied and with 680 GMAT are selected. so it depends on lot many factors even though higher score definitely helps.
2. I am wiser now after I have been admitted by one program of my choice and rejected by many. Do not go by school reputation as such. First start with your career goals. Which sector you want to get into - say consulting, finance, gen management..... then for each of sector which specialisation fascinates you or you want to build your career into? like in consulting it could be strategy , operations, consumer behaviour related marketting, merger / acquisations.....Then look for the companies which have businesses in sector of your choice where you would like to work post MBA and which are located in geographical locations where you would be comfortable living.
Then you decide on the school where your GMAT and GPA fall in +/- 20 (.20) of their average.
Those are the schools where you should apply.
Ofcourse as general reputation in south east asian region like singapore, hongkong etc. the schools you mentioned are good, but then my take is opportunities will be better from Indian schools compared to the ones you mentioned.
3. I am not sure, but with this score you will be competitive at LBS, cranefield, HEC Paris, but again, schools from places other then UK expect knowledge of additional European language.
4. If you think that you can do better with verbal , go ahead and do take GMAT one more time.
All the best.
