Hello cannolicookie,

GMAT club is one of the great platforms to get information about the GMAT official test, Study plan, Section wise instructions, and many more.

Your current GMAT score is a bit shaky. You can schedule a Free counseling(https://calendly.com/mathrevolution/1-on-1-session) session for 20 mins with one of our experts to have detailed advice on your current study plans.

A couple of things that can be a noticeable barrier to your scores would be some or all of the below.

• Inefficiency by using time-consuming Conventional method to tackle DS and PS questions still
• No expert support (maybe) who can tutor, analyze, and guide you during your learning
• Lack of many updated questions and practice in the recent exam trend
• Not well aligned with time to solve questions.

Precisely, there has to be one end-to-end solution encompassing all the points mentioned above. We also want to understand your approach to solving PS and DS questions. You can try our free diagnostic test(Quant only)https://www.mathrevolution.com/diagnostic/dtExamMember and receive a comprehensive study guide by topic. This test will clearly help you understand your weak areas.

Your study plan will now change as you are already ready with the vital concepts and their application. The diagnostic test report will give you a detailed insight into various topics and your performance. After an in-depth analysis, you will draw out the category of the topics in which you are already better and those where you need more improvement. Also, you will be able to compare your performance while solving the PS and DS questions.

Also, make a note of various possible combinations to achieve your target score. The possible scores will help you track your performance after taking the mock or practice test. It will also help you maintain balance in both the sections, and you will always be in a great position to allot the study hours to a specific area accordingly.

We recommend that you must learn the Variable Approach for solving DS questions and the IVY approach for solving PS questions in order to improve your accuracy and save time while solving the question types. These approaches are the robust self-designed time-saving techniques that will help you learn efficiently, thus raising your score in the quick nick of time.

Register with MathRevolution https://www.mathrevolution.com/member/signup to get access to our 7-days on-demand course for free trial lessons.

700+ level questions https://www.mathrevolution.com/gmat/questionbank are separately available, too. Start with the learning of the concepts. Make a habit of taking notes during the initial learning of the concepts.

After registering, you will have access to the practice section. Initially, try solving the DS and/or PS questions from very easy and easy category questions on the topic(s) you have learned. You may also connect with one of our experts to get one of the best tutoring supports, which will help understand the topic(s) and solve questions and learn how to manage time and accuracy.

Below is the useful link we will recommend you to visit on GMAT club to experience the power of DS and IVY approaches.

I always feel more comfortable with Verbal while I'm taking the exam and then come out with a subpar score, so I am not sure what is going on there. I appreciate any advice or recommendations!

There are some other Verbal posts (i.e. tips for RC) that may be helpful on that blog if you're interested.

I am retaking the GMAT for the 3rd time in a few months and really want to crack down on creating a new study plan. I scored a 580 both times on my previous 2 attempts and I self-studied for those two tries. I really think that the illusion of progress got to me when I self-studied and would love to get any recommendations for online courses that have a live learning component to them. I know there are a ton of companies and programs and I was overwhelmed looking at all of the choices. I am specifically struggling with Quant more, although I do need to brush up on Verbal as well. I always feel more comfortable with Verbal while I'm taking the exam and then come out with a subpar score, so I am not sure what is going on there. I appreciate any advice or recommendations!

Hi cannolicookie,

While looking for a course there's the obvious factors that one looks for - cost, content and teachers. But I'd recommend that you look for some other factors as well.

1. Look for a course that not only teaches you concepts but also teaches you the application of these concepts. GMAT is a test of application skills and as such this is a crucial factor. A course that teaches you a structured way of solving questions is very important if you want to hit your target score.

2. It should provide you with a clear and structured study plan. Your focus should be only on learning and not struggling with what and how to study. Look for a course that provides you with the guidance for the same.

3. It should give you detailed feedback on your performance and show you exactly where you can improve

4. It should offer doubt solving support along with dedicated mentors who guide you throughout your GMAT journey

The best way to decide is by going through the free trial offered by most test prep companies or by reading the verified reviews on GMATClub.

I would recommend that you check out the free trial of GMATWhiz and decide for yourself. It provides an AI powered learning platform that comes with a comprehensive amount of content and an integrated study plan that is completely personalized for you. Furthermore, the platform provides real time insights on your performance, highlighting your strengths and weaknesses while providing a road map to improvement. You can do that here -> https://learn.gmatwhiz.com/?page=signup

You can also go through the reviews here->https://gmatclub.com/reviews/gmatwhiz-345345722?fl=menu

If you need any personalized guidance related to your GMAT study strategy, feel free to contact me I would be happy to help. You can always write back to me here or the better way would be to connect over a call and have a discussion. You can schedule a free consultation call using the below link.

Hi cannolicookie,

I'm sorry to hear that your 2 attempts did not turn out better (and the tech issues that you faced on your 2nd At-home attempt must have been quite frustrating). It's interesting that you scored 580 on both attempts though - and it's possible that you've gotten 'stuck' at this particular Score level.

Since we last discussed your studies a little over 4 months ago, I'd like to know a bit more about how you've been studying since then and your current timeframe and goals:

1) On what dates did you take your 2 Official GMATs? What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each attempt?
2) How many hours did you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used over the course of ALL of your studies? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
5) What is your current goal score?
6) Are you planning to apply for the upcoming Round 2 deadlines? If so, then what specific deadlines are you facing?

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,

Thank you so much for your reply again-- I truly appreciate all of your help. I actually have been taking a long break since my last attempt and am just getting back into studying. Something unique about my situation is that I actually have gotten into an MBA program and am looking to retake the test in hopes of getting a higher score to qualify for additional scholarships. To answer your questions:

1) I took my first official GMAT on June 27th (580, V35 and Q35) and my second official GMAT on August 31st (580, V37 and Q34).

2) I studied about 6-8 hours a week.

3) Over the course of all of my studies, I referred to the OG and skimmed through the guide but did a lot of questions from the online question bank, I used Target Test Prep, and I also worked with a private tutor to prepare for my second attempt.

4) My first CAT on 5/24: 450 (V26, Q25)
Second CAT on 6/3: 530 (V31, Q31)
3rd CAT on 6/17: 530 (V37, Q26)
4th CAT on 8/6: 590 (V40, Q31)
5th CAT on 8/20: 600 (V31, Q41)
6th CAT on 8/26: 600 (V39 Q34)
My scaled scores really jumped around a lot for both quant and verbal, and all 6 CATs were the Official GMAT ones.

5) My current goal score is 650. I'd really love to break the 600 barrier-- I was super bummed when I ended up with 580 twice.

6) As I mentioned, I am taking the exam for scholarship purposes and I actually have until next June. I am planning on retaking the exam in February though to see how I do and maybe give it a 4th attempt if I am not content with my score.
