Hi Shashank,
I think there’s a lot to do even if a GMAT score like yours, did you see this?

Hi Jon,

I don't think i'll be writing my GMAT again. I want to do my MBA either in India or abroad.
Where all can I apply with this score? In terms of a profile, I'm working in Tata Consultancy Services(TCS) for the past 2 years.
Love singing, I have learnt carnatic classical music. Did my engineering from Bangalore in Industrial Engineering & Management from BMS College of Engineering.
I want your advice on how I can build my profile more? What all I can do?

Thank you so much for your help!

Shashank

Well Shashank, I don't want to seem stubborn, but I would STILL suggest you retake because:
1. You have only two years experience which is likely too little anyhow, so you have the time
2. As an Indian Male Tech applicant you are from the toughest applicant pool
3. Your "Competitors" (other Indian/Male/Tech applicants) are scoring quite high on the GMAT.

The MOST important thing when making this decision to go to B-school is to GO TO THE BEST SCHOOL YOU CAN! And with a 640 after having taken the GMAT only once, I'm not sure that will happen...

Thoughts?

Hey Jon,

I can understand the reason why you're advising me on writing my GMAT again. The problem I have is the fees that I need to pay, $250 is a lot of money for me. As a matter of fact, the first time I'd to write my GMAT exam, I wasn't allowed to write due to some name discrepancy in my profile and I'd to forfeit my fees. So effectively I've paid fees twice now. I really don't think I can afford another time, honestly :(
So want to apply with whatever I've right now.
Can I do anything else to improve my chance for an admission? like in terms of my profile? Do something other than my work? Anything at all.
Please let me know.

Regards,
Shashank
