Hi,

I have my exam during second week of July and need an intense one month study plan. I did some studying earlier in the year with Manhattan Prep books but haven’t done much recently. I scored high 600s on diagnostics. I haven’t solved most of the official GMAT tests, which I have in print.

I’ll most likely use my weekends to study as weekdays seem tough with work but any exam prep advice would be appreciated!

Hey lostlilsoul,

I wouldn't worry so much. I spent about a month studying using the exact steps outlined below and got a top score. I can't promise it works perfect for everybody, but I'm sure if you follow you'll do well so here's my 2 cents :-)

You have roughly 5 weekends and maybe some weekday evenings to prepare. Thats 10 full weekend days (Sat, Sun) + some extra time from weekdays.

Study materials needed: GMAT Official Study Guide Bundle (3 books) + 6 Manhattan Prep Online exams. The forum doesn't allow new members to post URLs so please read carefully.

Manhattan Prep exams (start with free test)
/gmat/free-gmat-practice-test/ at manhattanprep website

There are a total of around 10 diagnostic tests (4 from bundle and 6 from MP).

Here is you schedule on a weekend day: Take 1 test (4 hours). Review the test (1 hour). Practice problems from bundle books (2 hours).
That adds up to about 7 hours. Do this on each of the 10 weekend days. You'll finish all the tests and most likely all the books. If you'd like, you can skip studying on a weekend or two and try to make up for that time during the week. This will prepare you well and I'm sure you'll come out a GMAT champion ;)

Hi lostlilsoul,

If you last studied earlier in the year, then you were likely working with the old, longer version of the GMAT. In April, the Test went through some changes (the number of questions and length of time for the Quant and Verbal sections has decreased), so if you have not taken a CAT yet in the current, shorter format, then you should take one soon. You should make sure to take it in a realistic fashion (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, etc.). In addition, you should NOT retake a CAT that you've already taken (for example, if you already took the two free GMAC CATs, then you should NOT take them again). Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss how best to proceed.

2) What is your exact Test Date?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

In last month you should better try to overcome your weak points. You probably have made errorlog already so trace your mistakes, revise the concepts relating to mistakes. Take Complete CATs analyze them and learn from your mistake. Build your stamina to sit for 3.5 Hours without being bore.

Hi lostlilsoul,

One month is a good enough time to improve your score. If you study dedicatedly for that period, you are sure to achieve your goal. I believe you should focus on Verbal. If you are willing, there are some great GMAT prep companies that can help you with your preparation.

Specifically for verbal, I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market.

Lastly I would also encourage you to purchase the latest version of OG and the verbal review for some great additional practice.
