A box has 10 balls. Find how many ways 6 balls can be selected if each ball may be repeated any number of times.

General formula for selection with repetitions.

The number of ways to pick k items out of n with repetitions = kC(n+k-1)

In this case

6C(10+6-1) = 6C15

is there a simpler way of doing this? not able to understand the formula..

If all selections are independant from each other I would prefer 10^6

I have to select 6 balls among 10, so first one 10 choices, replacement, second one 10 choices...

That is why I answered 10^6...

I think the answer should be:10*9*8*7*6*5,is that right?

Hi, because being able to repeated, each ball has the same probability of being selected.

Hence repeat 6 times: 10 * 10 *10... = 10^6
