Hi Maverick,
The latest Simon MBA class has a good balance with the international students - there are a lot of backgrounds and nationalities (and it is not from just from one or two countries like some other schools).

Since it's the holidays, here's a good youtube happy holidays video from Simon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=op86OH4_tmI&feature=youtu.be&a.

Good luck for your applications, Mav

Hey,

I have applied to Simon on Nov 15 (R2), but recommendation was submitted only on 28 Nov. Received app completion email on 29 Nov. My online status still shows Under Review by Adcom. It probably means a ding, right?

Of course, some of international students are likely to be a bit more quiet than the domestic students, but they are in general very smart, especially in the quantitative area. So they contribute in other ways, and not just with class participation. Since it's the holidays, here's a good youtube happy holidays video from Simon that might show a bit of what I'm talking about

Good luck for your applications, Mav

No problem, Mav. Let me know if you have other questions about Simon or other MBA programs (I might know about how Simon compares to other programs).

Thats great ! so i'll start shooting..
how would you compare the simon mba program vis a vis other strong finance progs specifically kenan flagler and vanderbilt in terms of long term career success and support...does the simon CMC have any kind of plan/targets for the class of 2015 ... what exactly is precipitating the drop in rankings and does the school take this drop seriously ...and finally , why is the tuition fee so high @ simon !

Punters,
If you haven't received a reject, then your application is likely to be still being evaluated.

Hi Mav,
You ask good questions...let me give some feedback for each of them in different posts to be clearer:

Q: what exactly is precipitating the drop in rankings and does the school take this drop seriously

The drop in BusinessWeek ranking was mostly due to a transition in a couple of departments at the school two-three years ago, including in the career services, which cause a drop in student satisfaction (as you probably know, BW does their rankings every two years and weights older surveys as well).

Here's one more response, Mav:

Q: why is the tuition fee so high @ simon

A: Although the "list price" might be higher than other schools, the school also has a policy of giving financial support. So I think you should look at the final package, with the financial support.

The goal of the school/CMC is to maximize placement success for every class and get to the levels of placement of top-ranked programs. This response doesn't change for the 2013, 2014, 2015 class and beyond.

Glad to hear that you had the opportunity to talk to J. Manser at the Admissions dept. I think the they are going to set up an Ask Admission - Simon soon, in case you and others have more questions (or post them here).

Hello Prof..

Need some advice.
I have got an admit to Simon with decent scholarship..
Now I have got admits with Scholarships from Illinois as well as BU...

I am not able to finalize as of now...
On one hand, the temptation of doing an MBA with minimal debt from Illinois is immense...
On the other hand, I don't want to miss anything substantial that I will get only at Simon...
Pls Help..
