Also, money matters, so every $ off the tuition counts ..and always hear stories about the Job mkt booming in TX but Darden is closer to NE job mkts.
McCombs ($cholarship) = Think around $20 - 25k per annum
Thanks for your help.
My vote goes to McCombs. Couple of factors:
- McCombs is an excellent program with great employment outcomes. That said, it's pretty regional and many folks (whether by choice or otherwise) stay in TX. If you are okay staying there post-grad, then I feel it's a no-brainer.
- Austin is a good tech scene and TX in general is booming business-wise.
- Darden would prob give you an edge in terms of consulting or something, but tech? I doubt it, especially given that so much of tech is on the West Coast
- MONEY! GMATClub is full of people who say "Money doesn't matter" but in reality it DOES. Loans impact quality of life, and you'd hate to take a job that pays good money just bc the job pays good money (so you can pay off your loan) and not bc you really want it. Obvious caveat: money matters when the schools you're looking at offer roughly the same benefits. (E.g., in my case, I'm taking $$ from Kelley over no money from Ross because I'm interested in brand mgmt and CPG, into which both schools place outstandingly; if I were seeking mgmt consulting, I'd prob choose Ross.)
What are your thoughts? Do these match up against your judgments?
