Ubus,
29 years old would place you in the oldest 10% segment of most top business schools, but there's nothing wrong with that. 29 is still in the general core range of most top schools. If you were 31, 32 or older then the schools would start to think of you as EMBA material. So if you need to wait a year to get a GMAT score competitive at the top schools, you should do that (if you would only be happy at a top school). But keep in mind that competitive applications are about more than GMAT scores -- as an 'older' applicant you will be held to a higher standard in terms of professional and community achievement so make sure you also keep those moving forward in the next year.

Hi There,
I am a 28 Year Old ( so 29 when I start school ) aspiring for a Top School, however my GMAT Score is 650... So my chances at top schools are too slim!!
While I intend to retake the test by end of October and apply for R2 ( provided my scores inch closer to 700... I d be happy with a 690!!
I was wondering if things did nt go as per plan and I am unable to reach my target score, would applying at the age of 29 .ie starting school at 30 weaken my chances??
Your assistance would be appreciated!!
Regards
Ubus
