Hi
first I would like to thank you for this amazing forum and I hope one day i share my success story with you. Meanwhile, I need your help and advice
let me give you a brief background about my prep. In 2010, I took the GMAT after two weeks of studying from " Princeton crack the GMAT". I only studied the math section. English is not my native language and my English level was intermediate so I didn't try to study V at all since, the university that I applied to wasn't require a good GMAT score and I got 490 (Q38, V19).
Two years ago, I thought of applying to PhD in Marketing London Business School (my top choice) or Mphil in Cambridge and Insead (I am a Lecturer and my university will pay all the expenses) I bought Manhattan and the the
OG books. Study Math and SC then changed my mind and postpone the prep for the next year.
This year, I took Kaplan paper diagnostic test score between 380-420 (June). I was not upset because I forget most of the math and the verbal was always a struggle for me (even though my English is much better than my first Gmat test, 2010)
I started in June and July studying Math -infrequently- from Manhattan then in August I switched to
Magoosh which has great videos- I learn better by watching than reading. I finished them all. then went to the
OG solved all PS and DS created EL then reviewed them(although I make many mistakes even after the EL and revision).
for the verbal, I started two weeks ago, using
E-Gmat as my main source along with the
OG. I am about to finish CR and I feel that my skills have been improved significantly. I am planing to finish the SC and RC in the next two weeks.
Today, I took my first Gmat Prep diagnostic test and here is the results:
580 (Q42 V28)
(17 mistakes) for the math I struggled a lot even though the questions are not hard but I don't know why I can't apply what I learn. By the way math should be my strong point since I always get A in it in the school and university and I found it very interesting.
(17 mistakes) for the verbal part, I finished it in 55 minutes (since I have not finish my V prep yet I tried "educate guess" most the time"
I work about 6 hrs a day - four days a week, time is not an issue for me, except the I have to have the test no later than November 24th (could postpone it to mid of December if I want to limit my choice to LBS school and Cambridge only)
LBS requires 650 as a minimum although their average is +700.
I want your advice regarding my prep. What should I do to improve the math and is 6 weeks enough to jump from 580 to around 700.
Thank you in advance and best wishes
