Great academic / GMAT stats -- well done! Work experience
Financial leadership program - F50 manufacturing company
Sounds like great experience with exec exposure and high-profile work. Rotational programs are usually very well regarded by b-schools, especially if its a F50 company. On program rotation in corporate strategy and development and continued off program. Spent about a 1 year and three months in the role.
-Lead due diligence processes
-Evaluated M&A targets
-Worked on board of director strategy pitches
-M&A update for CEO
-Screened potential new markets
About 5 months ago I took a new job at a boutique management consulting firm. If I were to get accepted, by the time I matriculate I will have experience at an additional 2 F50 companies. I have been working with several business units within these companies to adapt organization wide changes in strategy (i.e incentive structure, capital deployment, etc)
Excellent! Will you be able to get a recommendation from someone at the consulting firm? That would be ideal, assuming you're comfortable sharing your MBA plans with them. Extracurricular -
Seem strong here too, keep it up!-Relay for life while in FLP - Championed 10K fundraising team
-Volunteer consulting - pro-bono consulting for small businesses who seek professional expertise
Goal: Product management at an elite tech company (i.e facebook, google, amazon)
These are very in-demand roles so definitely do your research and make sure you can show transferable skills. I've also heard that at some of these companies (less so at Amazon I think) they really prefer to recruit PMs who have had a tech / development background. So just be aware of that, and try to highlight any tech exposure you have had on your resume. What are your thoughts on my target schools?
This seems like a great list, you have a very strong profile. Columbia will be toughest so consider applying there Early Decision if its your first choice. You could also consider Ross which I know places a lot of grads in tech, specifically at Amazon. I believe I can add ~20 points to my GMAT if I devoted a few more weeks. Do you recommend to take it again or to allocate my time focusing on essays?
If you think you can add 20 points, sure, give it another shot. They will take your highest score so it can't hurt. I wouldn't waste a lot of time studying though because you already have a strong score and you'll want to move to essay writing within the next month. Good luck!
