Hi everyone.
While trying to work at Consulting, I noticed some firm's admission tests included Problem Solving GMAT items. So slowly I bought the OG book and have been introducing into the GMAT.
Now, I have recently started considering taking the exam as I aim to do an MBA in the near future, but I honestly have no clue of exam process "basics". Sorry if they are way too simple questions, but...
Where can one take the exam? What is the average price of it? Are there consequences for failing the exam (i.e: Not being able to take it again in a certain time)?
This one is just out of curiosity, but what is the GMAT section that in average people tend to consider the most difficult? Thanks.

Hi Fran94,
You can learn more about the GMAT, including costs, scheduling, etc. at www.mba.com. To answer your immediate questions though - the GMAT currently costs $250 per attempt and you have to wait 16 days between attempts (with up to 5 attempts in a rolling 12-month period). You are limited to 8 total attempts.
Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can download 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 4 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

You can't "fail" the GMAT exam. You will receive a score between 200 and 800 at the end of the test, and most programs do not specify a minimum score requirement. If by "fail" you meant getting a score lower than what you were targeting, the GMAT does allow you to take the exam again (total number of attempts is 8) and also allows you to cancel, within 72 hours (of that attempt), any score you don't want schools to see. So, not doing as well as desired on the GMAT can lead to loss of money and time, but it doesn't have any impact on the admissions process.This one is just out of curiosity, but what is the GMAT section that in average people tend to consider the most difficult? As for your question on section difficulty, it's hard to say which section is considered more difficult in general, because perception of relative difficulty really depends on an individual's strengths and weaknesses.
