Hello Everyone: I am an Indian applicant with 7 years of work experience in the Oil sector. I am now looking for an MBA in Strategy and want to do consulting.

What schools should I look at? Please share if you have been through this experience and have an admit in consulting schools already.

GMAT Score: 770
Work experience: 5 years

Hi lvyhunter,

Consulting is usually the top recruiting industry at B-schools, and top management consulting firms such as MBB hire in good numbers at most top schools. So look at top 20-25 schools. Outside the big names, some schools which are strong in consulting recruitment are Duke, Darden, Ross, and Tuck.

I will add a few more schools: LBS, INSEAD, IMD in Europe. If you have some international experience, it would add to your profile.

Also explore the top 10-12 US schools- all of them are strong in consulting and most also have some energy focus.

You have the right GMAT for the all the top schools and if the rest of your profile is equally impressive, profile permitting you can take a swing at some of the consulting powerhouses in the top 25. One school I would also like to highlight among those already mentioned is Yale, which is steadily climbing in consulting recruiting and in the overall rankings. Understand that consulting is one of the most popular career choices applicants list and combined with your competitive demo, you will have to make a strong case for why you are interested in this career path
