Is the usage 'more quickly' correct in option C?

ALRIGHTY, lets see what we got.

First I would like to point out that this is an example of where you need to consider the ENTIRE sentence. The good stuff isn't underlined.


(A) talked about their surgeries, they will feel less pain and recover quicker than do This is a throw away. Its clear that Talked isn't parallel with participate

(B) talk about their surgeries, they have felt less pain and will recover more quickly than do The past perfect here is incorrect.

(C) talk about their surgeries, they feel less pain and recover more quickly than this is correct. (95% sure) THe tenses in this sentence structure is parallel. if the patients talk and participate (infinitive verbs) the will feel (infinitive)

(D) talked about their surgeries, they feel less pain and recover quicker than This is a throw away. its clear that Talked isn't parallel with the participate

(E) talk about their surgeries, they felt less pain and will recover quicker than do Finally, this sentence is not parallel. the patients to not participate and felt. the would participate and feel.

Official Explanation :

The non-underlined portion of the sentence reads if heart surgery patients participate in group therapy. The word and tells us that the next word, talked, is incorrect, since participate is present tense. Eliminate (A).

Choice (B) reads they have felt less pain, which is perfect tense. However, there's no reason to change the present tense. Eliminate (B).

Lastly, the remaining answers use either quicker or quickly. Since, this word is describing recover, which is a verb, eliminate anything, that's not an adverb. That means quicker is wrong, so eliminate (D) and (E). Furthermore, (E) also uses felt, which is simple past. The correct answer is (C).
