I guess the movie itself doesn't really matter..the message does. Lagaan works great...heck it was even an Oscar finalist.

I have recommended Lagaan.. It had a good combination of sports and fight for justice..

but i was not sure if it sounded too common to include inspirational movies..

Should I just include something else all together?

thanks..

I am assuming the message should be consistent with the general theme of your essays.. Is that correct?

Arrgh.. what does this essay question really want? [#permalink]
What does this question mean?

If the admissions committee were to interview one of your
closest colleagues, what aspect of your personal
development would this person say is especially important
for the admissions committee to know?

Do they imply a triat that I developed while at work that I did not have before I joined work, or do they mean just a general trait of mine that I have..

When I asked this question to my friend this is what he said:

Drive for success and passion for work.

I am not sure if he answered the question... but is that theme enough for me to expand on?

Please advice!

Never even heard of Lagan.

How about "Il Mar Adentro?" Story about a guy that commits suicide. I could end the essay with, "thats what ill do if you don't let me in".

Or maybe "L'enfant" - A story of a baby who is sold on the black market by his parents. I can close with "Thats what my dad will do to me if you dont let me in."

I think Lagaan would be a great choice!!

I am going with The Shawshank Redemption.

It is both a book and a movie. But I will recommend the movie. What performances from Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.

The message of the movie says it all.

"FEAR CAN IMPRISON YOU, HOPE CAN SET YOU FREE"

Please help me with my essay.....

"I would recommend the movie Fargo, because of it's message of perserverence and hope. When a kidnapping goes south, Jerry Lundegaard's difficult financial positions place him in a quandry. Rather than give up, Jerry just keeps trying to find a solution to his financial woes. After the primary kidnapper is shot in the face, an old man is killed, and then another kidnapper uses a woodchipper to destory the body of the first kidnapper, all is well. This, in many ways, is like my application, for I am like the second Kidnapper, and you are like the first. The Dean of your school is Mr. Luundergard.

I draw these parallels, because, like Mr Lunndergard, your Dean pretty much does little more than lie in order to get what he wants - in this case, students. It's part of his strategy to attract a higher number of applicants so as to artificially deflate the acceptance rate and make his school appear more competitive than it truly is. In this way, the Dean is Mr. Luundergard. You, Mr Adcom, are the other kidnapper in that, you hold the keys to the kingdom. You have the getaway car, and I'm trying to get in it. I, on the other hand, am like the second kidnapper, insomuch as, if I don't get in, I'm going to put you into a woodchipper."

What do you guys think? Does it work?

Gotta give it to you Rhyme. Awesome.
Any sane person would see the humor in it. I hope the adcom members see it too.

You should seriously start reviewing essays as an alternate career.

Rhyme,

Awesome essay! Man you too good...

Just a comment. I thought the max word limit was 100, your essay is down to 227.. Assuming the second paragraph is something you not going to use..

Man your english is too good!

How much time did you take this to come up with this?

I'm saying that I'm a kidnapper and a criminal.
I'm calling the dean a liar.
I insult the schools prestigious status.
I'm calling the adcom a getaway driver.
I then threaten to murder the adcom.

It was a joke!!

pick a recent book that has similar themes as your essays.

avoid classics. That'll make you look dry and unoriginal
