The value of 12! is closest to:

A. (10^6)
B. 3(10^7)
C. 5(10^8)
D. 7(10^9)
E. 9(10^11)

12! = 12 x 11 x 10 x 9 x 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1

We have:

10 x 5 x 2 x 1 = 100 = 10^2

12 x 8 = 96 ≈ 100 = 10^2

11 x 9 = 99 ≈ 100 = 10^2

So we are left with 7 x 6 x 4 x 3, which is 42 x 12 ≈ 500 = 5 x 10^2.

Therefore, 12! ≈ 10^2 x 10^2 x 10^2 x 5 x 10^2 = 5 x 10^8.

The amount of time you will spend to think how you might solve this, might as well just multiply!

Start from 7! = 5040 (that is the one i remember)
8! = 40320
9! = 362880
10! = 3628800 (this one is easy!)
11! = 39916800
12! = 478001600 = 4.7*10^8

Job done.
