-5/2
-5/4
-1/2
2/5
4/5

Source:- Challenge 11, Q-12.

I am getting -5/2. Answer is -1/2.

should not have any problem with the answer (-5/2). its the most basic question in xy -plane.

They are asking for k/b and not k. So answer is right

thats good point dahcrap.

in fact i was calculating k/b but posted without verifying the value. thats why i was wondering how it could be wrong.

thanks.

Re: If y=kx+b intersects x axis at (2,0) and y axis at (0,5) [#permalink]
y = kx+b

k=slope of the plane, (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = (0-5)/(2-0) = -5/2
(2,0)
0=-5/2*2+b
b=5

k/b = (-5/2) / 5 = -1/2

(C) -1/2

In fact the answer could be obtained just by putting (0,2) in the equation.

0=2k+b which gives k/b= -1/2.
