i chose MS Accounting because my undergrad grades were awful and i knew that i wanted to pursue a doctoral degree in accounting. i used the MS Accounting as a way to prove myself academically in hopes of strengthening my PhD application.

also, as was previously mentioned in this thread, the MS Accounting degree can serve as an "extra year" of accounting for undergrads who wish to enter public accounting at a Big 4 firm.

if your intention is to continue working after your masters degree and not pursue a PhD or career in research or academia, i would definitely recommend the MBA. an MBA from a top school will create lots of professional opportunity for you.
