Can you guys share your approaches to a CR que???

Till now i was using KAPLAN's,

-Reading stem first
-Reading premise - E + C =>assumption then ABCDE
-In case missing on stem, then recheck it!

I feel this apprch is a bit of more time consuming....nyways how abt u guys????

I was using that approach as well. I also found it to be too time consuming. I was writing down way too much crap.
Now..i just jot down some key things and that's it.
I don't need to write down what the conclusion and what the evidence is ( unless the CR is complicated)..because when i read the argument I know what they are.

Hope my two cents helps..

The Official Guide for GMAT Review has detailed explanations for each question. It is in invaluable guide to understand the process of CR. Also, get the LSAT Superprep. It has 3 tests with detailed explanations.

Another helpful way to master verbal this is to simply try to participate in forum discussions and take the time to explain your answer.

Others may have a different opinion, but I wouldn't trust Kaplan too much with verbal.

Finally, stick to the Official Guide and LSAT in the early stages of your verbal prep. Learn the basic rules of sentence construction and CR. Make detailed notes of the errors you make.

Recently, I read new technique from member on this forum only. He used some Goldlock (not with with the exact name.. but initial word is gold..).. according to this technique, first read the CR question means whether it says find out which statement strenthen/weaken/undermine/assumption.. etc etc.. and then read the data given in the question. I applied this style and it worked out very well so far.
