I think a gmat-clubber last year got in with a similar score. If you could search last years thread up for Kellogg you can check that.

I think 10 years of work experience should make a difference. Also part time programs have lower GMAT score requirements.

mbawaters, I think you'll be fine with part time programs. Just make sure your recommendations are good, and you clearly say why you want a part time MBA (how it'll help you in your current job/industry).
Good luck!

I applied to NYU PT and got in with a 630, 3.2, 4 years WE. I think K & GSB PT programs are comparable to NYU.

Just be sure to 'wow' them with your essays and you'll be fine.

It's an obstacle, but I don't think it's preventively low. I would compensate the verbal score by submitting very strong essays and the quant score by demonstrating quantitative skills through your work experience. If you had strong grades in quant-based courses in undergrad/grad school that helps too.

I am going to disagree with some of the others here and this is why. The PT programs at NW and Chicago are two of the best in the world, their average GMAT score is close to 700 even for the PT program. If you were going for a PT program to u of illinois then I would say not problem. Applying to any program at any school with 50+ points below the average is going to pose a challenge, it would be like applying to Kellogg FT with a 660, everyone would honestly tell you that it would hamper your chances.

With 10 years work experience you are getting close to EMBA territory, they dont even require the GMAT at a lot of the executive programs. Have you given thought at going for one of those?

I`m applying with a 610 on the back of a few weeks GMAT study (whilst working and babysitting ;) )and 12 years of exp. at matriculation ;)

Don`t have the time to resit the GMAT.

Anyway, the GMAT is only 1 measure... If you had week, work exp, or weak extra curriculars, its no different to a weak GMAT.

EMBA is not applicable for everyone, some of them require company sponsorship, and generally speaking, the company i work for do not sponsor MBAs, and it`s not a small company, has 60k+ employees and is number 1 in its industry, and 1 of the top 10 most recognised brands in the world.
