5/11/2008 GMATPrep 740 (Q46, V46)I'm 2/3rds through the
Manhattan GMAT self-study course and my GMAT is scheduled in 5 weeks. I'm pretty happy with how I'm scoring right now, considering I haven't even reviewed geometry yet and those counted for a lot of the questions I got wrong on the GMATprep. Also I finished the quant with 10 minutes to spare, so obviously my timing needs improvement.
I think the material the
MGMAT course covers is great, their practice exam, however doesn't accurately reflect your potential score.
The quant section of the
MGMAT practice test is much harder than the real thing. Plus, the real GMAT questions tend to be much shorter, a few of the
MGMAT questions are 7 line paragraphs! I still think the
MGMAT quant section is valuable, the questions are tough and really force you to learn the core skills required to solve them.
The verbal section, however, is a different story. I think the SC questions are fine, but the RC and CR questions just aren't that great. From all the RC and CR questions I've done in the
OG guide and on the GMATPrep, all of them were clearly written and I got them wrong when my analysis was wrong. With the
MGMAT questions, I was often confused by the poor writing. Sometimes, it was hard to even understand what the answers were saying. This didn't happen on the GMATprep.
Anyways, I'll update after I finish my next GMAT prep test.
