Hey All,

So I just called CBS Adcom today and they replied that you can list anyone that you've spoken to at Columbia for the question about which representatives you've had contact with.

Interesting....
Maybe should just put down the people that you've talked to extensively?
Don't need to overwhelm them with names... I think.
Adcom may actually go to these people and ask them to confirm the conversation? Hmm...

I agree that too many names may just become a negative.

Navy01's going to Stern, and I think a bunch of other folks on that list aren't doing ED.
Maybe we need a new roll call, for everyone doing RD or ED?
--(edited to include sonibubu's comment below)--

I'm certainly applying ED and submitting on or before September 1st.

navy put this list a while ago, but it seems that only a few of the list are active and planning to submit this week.
I couldn't do much preparation for the past few days for family matters. I want to submit this week, but my recommender is MIA. I feel anxious.

BTW, can anyone tell me what's the appropriate length for the long-term goal? How specific?

Thanks.

Yeah, take me off the ED list. Why do we need an ED list anyways? This thread is for all Columbia applicants.

Agreed- let's keep the list accessible to all :) Besides, we'll probably just make ourselves even more anxious by seeing all the names hehe. Though if you guys really want to, I would participate too...

I never said that we needed a list. I didn't mean to question your plan either.

Just a reminder that ED's deadline is early October...
So, you really don't have to submit the app right away....

Anyways, I know I am far from being ready and probably will submit early September :|

I feel like we are being segregated into ED and RD applicants. We're all equals here (except ED people have slightly more love for CBS :P ).
Let's not let this thread turn into a BW CBS ED thread haha.

There's nothing like that sonibubu, it's just that ED review opens tomorrow, so us ED folks are a little more vocal on the thread. And you should see the enthusiastic folks on the B-week forums, it's like everyone there is going to submit 00:01 on the 13'th. :-D

How are people doing on the app? Is anyone close to submission?

I'm nearly finished. My essays are done and I just have a few odds and ends left on my data forms (one of which is whether I should include students and alums or just the adcom where the app asks what cbs reps I've met). I'm waiting on my reccomenders though and they probably won't submit for about 10 days. So I'm targeting late August and definitely before 9/1.

I am not any close to submission. One of my recommenders is still MIA. The pdf upload for transcript never worked for me, so I guess I would have to make an excel file. I plan to finish filling out the form this weekend. The essays are almost done.

Well at least we know that if you're submitting anytime soon, your ED application is going to go "Under Review" in less than 24 hrs. That means you should have your interview invite by October 1st if last year's timeframes are any indication.

My LOR went in last night. I'm currently at 840 words on the (reapp) essay. I'll submit my app this weekend.

Is there a consensus on what is appropriate? I'm planning to list one adcom member (although I know two members, I've spoken with one person extensively) and 4 students - for a total of five people.

Re: Calling all Columbia Applicants for 2009! [#permalink]
I'm leaning toward just putting the adcom that gave the on campus presentation I went to. I have had conversations with 3 alums and 2 students and I'm still considering listing them. But, if we hadn't seen those comments from Christina on BW I think everyones first interpretation of this question would just be to list the adcoms they met at admissions presentations. I feel like if we do that it will match how most people answered the question and basically just prove that we have either visited campus or been to a local presentation. I just don't want them contacting students or alums that I've had 1-2 conversations with, I don't think it adds much and I'd rather just not open up that can of worms. I'd rather have my evaluation stick to my essays, interview, recs, etc and not take the chance of them soliciting the opinion of students/alums that I have no idea what they would say.

what did you do on your app last year? adcom only?
