I'm going to Thailand for most of the summer. I'm skipping the beaches, instead I'll be in the mountains of the north. I come back the same week as orientation, so I hope jet lag doesn't kill me...

haha I have heard horror stories about the Barcelona airport on Ryanair, something like 2 hours from the city right? But bottom the line the cheap-o airlines everyones listed are a way better deal than the Eurail pass, that's a total rip.

Also for anyone who has visions beyond just europe (the no doubt choice if you want to see a lot of places in a few weeks), check out the Round the World pass:

It's not cheap, but I've heard of people getting some CRAZY value out of it, going from like London to Dubai to Moscow to Tokyo to LA back to London for $2000US, whereas an itinerary like that would easily cost you $3000+ if you just bought the tickets conventionally.

I booked an around-the-world ticket in 2005 for $2500.

NYC-Hong Kong-Bangkok-Singapore-Bangkok-Delhi-Dubai-Amman-Tel Aviv-Zurich-NYC

volunteering in guatemala for 4 weeks then traveling through central america for another few weeks!

Big MAYBE for India for a couple weeks in July (depends how late I decide to work), then moving to Chicago, and then south America (likely Brazil) for Random Walk...can't wait :)

Finally decided that I am gonna be in UK for the ICC Twenty20 cricket world cup for a week, maybe catch a wimbedon game - and then i backpack for a week in Eastern europe..Hungary, Czech, Montenegro..eurorail all the way.

Any Gmatclubbers wanna join me? :)

My wife will not allow me to go to Hungary and Montenegro with you :lol:

Prague is the most beautiful city I have ever been, people say that Budapest is even more. Go there, it is not as expensive as western Europe, lot's of places to go! If you can, also go to Wien (Vienna). Actually, Austria is my favorite place in Europe after Portugal.
