For most of the top schools upto 4 times is not really frowned upon. So, go ahead and give it your best shot.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I am a bit worried about taking the GMAT for the third time even though I have had a drastic improvements between my first and second attempt i.e. 620 to 680. Not sure, how ad coms would perceive 3 attempts.

Responses are much appreciated.

First of all, Congrats for a good score! Second, you should definitely give it another shot if you are aiming for top 15 schools. Concentrate on your verbal. You have good quant abilities.

Thanks for the response. Even I was thinking the same but because the deadline for round 2 applications in close by, I was not sure whether to concentrate solely on the 3rd attempt or start working on the apps.

Re: 680 (Q49, V33); AWA 6.0 [#permalink]
Hi Guys,

I just received my AWA score and I am happy to report that i received 6.0 (90%).

This has created a new confusion regarding my 3rd attempt.

Is it possible that the adcoms could consider my AWA score to compensate my average Verbal score.

Please suggest.

Hi,

Please read through this thread for some advice about whether to retake the GMAT: should-i-retake-gmat-thread-retaking-gmat-strategies-83339.html

In general, the AWA is not really a huge factor in adcoms decision. It's good that you got a 6.0, but I don't think that it will erase the fact that your verbal score is weak. You might better post your "to retake or not to retake" in one of the admissions consultants forums, as they have more experience dealing with questions like these. however, judging from your background (indian IT male), i'd say retaking and getting a better verbal score would be a good way to go.

Take it again if you have the time. It seems that schools will be competitive with this economy, so many will be aiming for high GMAT scores...
