Re: Wondering about KAPLAN CAT TEST representativity !!!!!????? [#permalink]
Hello

I have access to the 9 Kaplan CATs that is offered in my test prep package and find a strong correlation between the Kaplan CAT scores and the GMAT Prep scores. When I was getting between [620,690] on Kaplan CATs I scored 650 on GMAT Prep . I recently took Kaplan CAT 6 and 7 and scored 710 on those, took GMAT Prep then and scored 720 on it.

It is possible that the score estimator is based on Kaplan scores from the tests available on CD which had a tougher scoring algorithm and hence the upward deviation. From what I gather the CD has been discontinued.

Long story short, I would use the score estimator for estimating my score on the actual test based on GMAT Prep scores and use Kaplan CATs for practice purposes only. You can keep an eye on your own level of correlations since the score estimator may not be taking into account the newer Kaplan scoring algorithm which has changed and seems less stringent.

I have not taken my GMAT yet , so cannot comment on the correlation between Kaplan CATs and the real GMAT.
