Heh. When I see "Unmanned Airplanes" I definitely get an image of airplanes who sing falsetto in the airplane choir...

Congrats, though, hokiegenius - and good luck!

This makes me want to take his class. Aenigma, have you heard back from NYU yet?

Well, I received an interview invitation on 2/12 but wasn't able to schedule the interview (don't recall why) until early next week. For what it's worth, I submitted the day of the deadline.

Oh my, Clinical Professor Galloway will be so proud his infamy is growing so far.

He is an entertaining chap, but you really need more than that as a reason to take his class. Any Professor can act like a jack-ass about people arriving late (some will have you removed immediately by a TA and ignore you, others completely dress you down infront of the class) so it is hardly that unusual beyond that he went and publicised it.

You can only eat grains or fruit in his class as well, and only drink water. His class has a very strong reputation, but as you can imagine he is a polarizing type of character (I didn't take it because, in some ways, I am probably too much like him).

Anyone interviewing feel free to get in touch and hopefully I will not be too busy so that I can offer assistance.

For anyone who has visited campus -- do you have any tips? Things to avoid, things to definitely see/do, or any other suggestions? Thanks!

I had my interview this morning at Stern. I was pretty nervous while waiting, but the adcom member I interviewed with was very kind and personable so I stopped being nervous =)

Just because I know ppl will ask... submitted my app on the R2 deadline, rec'd an invite to interview 2/9, scheduled the interview for this AM (2/24).

The questions were very general and just really allowed me to elaborate on my career thus far, and why I want my MBA, and why Stern, etc. Some of the questions I recall:
- Why Stern?
- Why MBA/why now?
- Tell me about an important activity from college
- How did you pick your undergrad institution
- How will you choose which school to attend if you get into all of them
- talk about a leadership experience
- what types of activities would you like to be involved in at Stern

Now that I think about it, the interviewer didn't ask too many questions. I tended to give detailed answers, which took up time, and then I had a chance to ask a few questions. It was almost exactly 30 min.

Stern is my top choice so I probably went in there the most nervous out of any interview thus far, but it actually ended up being one of the most pleasant interviews yet. I couldn't really tell how "well" I did because my interviewer was hard to read- very friendly, but neutral toward everything I said. Plus, I tend to be my own worst enemy and belabor every word choice/answer after the fact.

My interviewer said I should hear back within 2-3 weeks...
good luck to everyone who's waiting for an invite & those that are waiting for a final decision....

I wonder if anyone from R2 has been admitted yet?

My comment to take his class was full of sarcasm. One of the problems of the internet I suppose. From now on I will indicate sarcastic comments with a <S> coding.

<S> I love how long it takes for schools to render decisions on applications </S>

Crashing, did you do anything (send in any supplimental materials) between when you heard you were waitlisted and when you were invited to interview? If so, what were they?
Thanks,
Nick

hi all,

i was invited to interview earlier this week (submitted on deadline day) and am superexcited for my visit. i have planned the interview, lunch with a student, and a valuation class, with only 15 min between the lunch and class. is this cutting it too close?

also, do you know if there is specified attire? should i assume business attire?

thank you!

best of luck to all...

Congrats on the invitation! Are you interviewing next week? (I am.)

As far as attire, if you were only visiting a class or even lunching with a student, nice business casual would probably suffice, BUT you are interviewing. For an interview, I would definitely go for business attire (suit!). Since you're doing everything else on the same day, better to default to the more formal wear. The students are going to peg you for an applicant no matter what, no one's going to judge you for being a little overdressed in class (maybe take the jacket off if you feel uncomfortable). But you definitely don't want to risk the admissions committee judging you for being underdressed.

As far as cutting it close, it is possible that the class actually starts fifteen minutes after they tell you... I believe this was true when I visited (although class was the first thing I went to) and in any case it would be a pretty smart policy in order to minimize disruption by prospective students coming in late. Regardless, I'm sure if you tell the student ahead of time that you have a class to go to at such-and-such time, and could s/he give you a sense of how long it might take to get there, I'm sure s/he will be quite understanding. Maybe you'll even get an escort to the class. (They obviously welcome friendly/helpful students to participate in admissions events, at least in my experience.)

Good luck!

I had my class 10.30-11.50 and then lunch at 12. Everything was organised very well and there were no issues with the timing.

Nope, I did not communicate with or send anything to the admissions office after being placed on the wait-list...
