Was going to persevere through the crutches but on the 11th I will be out of town. Next time though!

3/11 isn't great for me -- actually it directly conflicts with some undergrad alumni event I was thinking of attending -- but I guess I can muster the will power to forgo high-power networking and free sushi to hang with y'all a minute.

I don't quite understand why a current student, who has the capacity to drink pretty much 24/7, is directing when things are going to be.

Save for the fact he will be nearby that day, so everyone but he makes an effort.

I might add that - when I was at NYU - there were zero events near the school (admittedly, I also didn't show up). I cannot fathom why this should change for Solaris1. other than his fear that it may be raining and would maybe cause color leach from his loud footwear.

Because I'll be on a flight to Africa on Friday the 12th! Nonetheless, this is really about you Class of '12 folks so don't let mw dictate terms. If Friday the 12th works for more of you, so be it and I'll be sorry to miss it.

ok next friday 3/12 sounds like the date for the first one. the location seems to be torn between downtown and midtown. prerequisites for the place should be:

not too expensive
not super loud
(hopefully) near public transportation

i saw a few hotel bars mentioned earlier. do you think they have happy hour specials? i'm of the type who prefers to spend <$10 a drink if possible.

i just searched through yelp (yelp.com) for a few possible bars near midtown. here's what i came up with:

i've never been to any of these, so i'm just basing it off proximity to 33rd st / penn, as well as a few reviews.

feel free to throw in any other votes for this (midtown) or any other nyc location.

Good suggestions. I've been to all three of those and think Stout has the best atmosphere but they're all fun. But I also think Dove down by NYU is a rock solid choice if people would prefer to meet in that area.

stout's good. it's right by MSG. Dove is pretty cozy and cool too.

I'm in as well! I work downtown so that would be good, but I can easily come to midtwon as well.

Why not shoot for the Thurs so Solly doesn't get all upset.

I would not dare step in Blarney Stone, and my friend who lives right near that daren't either.

@3underscore: it sounded like more people would prefer it on friday. i'd definitely be down for doing part 2 a week or so later so we could meet up with solaris and any other current students, though.

Do a Friday thing in Midtown and a Thursday thing downtown? Next Friday and two Thursdays from now, possibly? Just suggesting. No preference personally.
