Haha, honestly? No one cares. 2 Bs during the course of an academic career is next to nothing. In fact, you paying so much attention to it might seem odd :) So don't worry about it! Your work experience and exposure to international cultures through language seem really interesting. Not many actuarial analysts out there either. My sister is one :)

Thanks! :) That makes me feel a bit better. I'm hoping my experiences as an actuary will give me a few diversity points. I'm actually starting Italian this semester (4th foreign language? lol) and I've traveled to Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, China and Japan. I don't know what this has to do with my career goals of being an actuary (other than maybe working in Switzerland or Hong Kong), but do you think it would be wise to emphasize the point that I've had a lot of exposure to international cultures? I want to, but I feel like between many applicants' study abroad programs and the 27% international admits to the program, they're kind of used to the whole "I'm very cultured" sales pitch.

That's cool that your sister is an actuary too! Has she finished all of her SOA/CAS exams yet?

I am sure that mentioning your international exposure would be a good thing, but maybe you don't need to make that a focus. Like you can talk about it in your undergraduate experience essay, but just a line or two?

It's my cousin, but we're close :). I have no idea. She lives in the UK and she's done with 6/8 exams she needs to take or something like that? I have no idea, lol.

Sounds like a plan. I'll just mention it in a sentence or two.

While you're here...what do you think I should do with all the activities I have on my resume? Right now it looks like:

Volunteered weekly at a Special Education school, teaching elementary school children with Down Syndrome.

Deliverance Bible Church – helped develop a second location of a church, located near our campus. The church specifically targets those in the hard rock and metal scene, where the gospel is seldom heard, and provides an “alternative” new church. It has grown to 100+ membership since its start.

Math Tutor – tutored students in calculus, statistics and other math topics

Reformed University Fellowship – led weekly dinner groups discussing and reflecting on each week’s RUF sermon

La Mesa Hispánica – spanish club, helped organize and run 10 events per year, ranging from Mexican cook-offs to movie nights.

Mathematics Club – helped advertise and organize events and talks

Problem Solving Club – worked on Putnam Exam problems, taught results of solved problems to the rest of the group.

Honors College Community Service Club – worked in various community service projects throughout the year.

It's a lot of stuff. Some of it is really good and shows leadership (Special Education School, helping start the Church), some of it shows moderate leadership (leading weekly dinner groups, organizing spanish club events), but some of it is just "clubs" I'm in really. (Math club, honors community service, etc.) Do you think I should just not mention these things, or should I try to include every activity I've been involved in?

To answer in a nutshell, I'd put quality over quantity. It doesn't matter that you've been involved in a dozen things; being involved with two but working passionately and devoting a lot of time to pursuing your interests in them would look better.

So, yes, definitely talk more about the leadership experiences and talk about the ones that you are just doing for your interests w/o leadership in a line or two in the UG experience essay maybe? But yeah, don't make it a laundry list; it'd come off as too boring.
