One thing to notice is that they seem to want your passport/HK ID so be sure to have one of them or if not maybe email them and ask about it so you dont just see it the last day! Now i just need to remember to submit mine at home tonight cause i keep forgetting it!!

haha, still drafting my WE. It really kills me cause they use Chars but not words to control your inputs. Reminds me this is a science and technology university. :)

Re: HKUST 2011-2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
hope everyone here got their apps in for rd1 on time! i was slightly surprised they asked for me to upload my transcripts/scores AFTER i submitted but i did it before deadline so it was all good... Anyway, i do talk to an alum periodically and here's some tidbits :

1.Class size will probably be ~120ish
2. Expect interview notifications mid December
3. A typical year, HKUST will place 50% of its student in HK, 25% in China and 10%in Singapore and rest international i guess

remember this is work from alum/ambassador so expect slight inaccuracies but it should be a starting point!

Also, if anyone have any questions i can try forward it since she answers them pretty quickly.

Thanks for the info, Shaselai! I submitted my app right under the gun. Slid it in just before midnight HK time. I hope it gets considered for Rd 1!

I wonder what % they will take from North America, as I am in the US. Any other Americans applying?

Hmmm. Same here! Oops. Well, I would like to see diversity, but a good MBA school in Asia? Whose attention do you think you're going to get? :)

haha i guess so.. but hkust does say how they get people over like 30 countries... but if it is "chinese over 30 countries" then it is kinda funny... some pics of gatherings i have seen for hkust almost all chinese... not a bad thing certainly but..

Re: HKUST 2011-2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
come on UPGRAYEDD, R2 is very close now. :)

Yeah i am chinese but have australian nationality, so don't know whether they will count me in chinese pool or oceania pool (if there is one). But it does make sense coz i cant imagine how you gonna survive if u cant speak chinese in mainland china or hong kong (for non-finance fellows). I think we actually have benefits than pure western applicants or chinese applicants coz we have been exposed to both cultures so we are sort of "in-the-middle", similar to what hong kong is right now.

australia is 3 hours ahead of hong kong time, so i didn't miss R1.:) However, still wondering where my ref are doing coz i only have 1 submitted, still waiting for another 2.

Here's what the alum/ambassador said:

Any given year, there is approximately 20-30% PRC students. The other Asian faces are from other Asian counties or returnees from North America. But yes, I would say Chinese and Chinese-descent makes up majority of the class.
