Re: 710 - Should I retake? [#permalink]
Hi WhoIsJohnGalt!

I'm going to be very straightforward: Only repeat the GMAT if you think that your current score does not represent your ablities.

A simple advice, but hope that it helped.

ha ha... sorry maybe i shouldnt do that.. but i wouldnt want to be that guy holding the umbrella..

vwjetty how is this pic relevant? are you saying the guy on the bike is WhoIsJohnGalt, who would be, metaphorically speaking, falling face down if he were to consider retaking the gmat with a score of 710, with an 80-80 split, in the bag?

That was my interpretation... It's good to have a good sense of humor.

Re: 710 - Should I retake? [#permalink]
I don't want to digress, but I do think this is relevant... My undergrad GPA is a 3.03 from a small liberal arts college (about 3.45 last 2 years of college). Prior to that I took various college courses at a local community college while I was in high school (38 college credit hours and a 3.6 GPA). Given that I will certainly be in the lower end of the spectrum for applicants should I really push higher for the GMAT? Also, just out of curiosity, when I report my undergrad GPA do I report the 3.03 or the cumulative GPA (3.03 + 38 credit hours with a 3.6)?

Thanks in advance for your input.

dude i have the same score and am pretty much in the same boat as you are. No point taking GMAT again if you end up getting 730 , unless you score a 740+ don't waste your time .
It really depends on your profile and the kindff applicant pool you'll be compared with .
So think long and hard before making a decision .

Re: 710 - Should I retake? [#permalink]
I've decided to retake the exam not necessarily for schools but for employment purposes. After b-school, I plan to work in investment banking with the anticipation of moving into private equity at some point in time. Given how competitive private equity is, I would like to distinguish myself in anyway possible. So, I will take the exam again this May with a goal of 750+.
