I agree with option C.

Stmt 1: x+y=z ---> x=z-y

not enough info, insuff

stmt 2: x<0 ---> x is negative but does not say anything about z or y.

stmt 1 and stmt 2: -x+y=z ---> -x=-y+z ---> x=y-z. and since it is an absolute value we know x is postive in the question.

answer is C

Is |x| = y - z ?

1) x + y = z

2) x < 0

Show SpoilerPlease comment on my solution and say if its right or wrong
1) x = z-y

|x| = x or |x| = -x

Dont know if x is positive or negative .... Hence insufficient

2)X< 0

no info about x and y .... hence insufficient

taking 1 and 2 together

x< 0 thus |x| = -x

-x = -(z-y)

thus |x| = y-z

hence c ---- sufficient

Yes, your method is absolutely fine. I would do it in the same way too.
Stmnt 1: x + y = z
Rewrite: -x = y - z

Question: Is |x| = y-z?
So from statement 1, my question is: Is |x| = -x?
It is if x is negative. Stmnt 2 tells me that it is. Hence answer (C)

Is |x| = y - z ?

1) x + y = z

2) x 0[/m] --> \(y-z\) is negative --> no good for us;
if \(x\leq{0}\) --> \(y-z\) is positive --> good.
Two possible answers not sufficient;

(2) \(x<0\)
Not sufficient (we need to know value of y-z is equal or not to |x|)

(1)+(2) Sufficient.

Answer: C.
