ISSUE TOPIC : In any enterprise, the process of making or doing something is ultimately more important than the final product.
The author states that the the process of making or doing something is more important thatn the final product. As the saying puts "There are a thousand hamlet in a thousand people's eye", people with distinct experiences and different backgrounds can view the topic from different perspectives. So people may say that the process which leads a product is more important than a final product. Some others may contradict with the author's belief and say that a final product is more important than the process.I disagree with author's statement.According to me the final product is more imprtant than making or doing something.
First of all, enterprises are profit making organizations and different from technical research centres. In enterprises achieving the desired results is most imprtant as the final product confirms their position in the market. Also the area of enterprise is generally limited and hence it just can't go on supporting any process. It is crucial for any enterprise to keep eye on the process and check whether it is on track.Sometimes it may happen that the process can give very good results but in different area ,which is not the enterprise's conern. For example, consider a detergent manufacturing enterprise is conducting processes to improve the stain removing properties of the particular detergent manufactured by the eneterprise. If the enterprise fails to keep track of the process and ultimately the process develops a detergent which can act as germ-fighter,then it is of no use for such enterprise, whose main goal is manufacturing a product with imoroved stain resisting properties.
Secondly,it is very important for any enterprise to be very competitive in its field. So if the enterprise fails to keep a track of it's R&D department as stated in the above example, the chances are very high that it can lose business to its competitor. The competitor who was keeping a proper track of the process involved in its firm can take an advantage of such situation and make entry with its new product. It will be very difficult for the enterprise to regain its business.
In a nutshell, the argument made by author can be applicable to certain extent to Technical Reseach Centres, where achieving a particular result is not very important. It would be considered a success even if the process leads into another equally important good result. But for enterprise it is not the case and hence it is very to imprtant to keep track of the processes to ensure that the processes are inline with the final requirements.
