Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Businesses should do anything they can to make a profit. Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.
Having a bright idea, developing and making it successful, are the processes full of obstacles, especially today when concurrency is pretty high. It is very difficult to succeed by going on a clean path and respecting the rules. Nevertheless, I do not agree with the affirmative statement that businesses should do anything they can to make profit. The reasons I do not approve this idea, are linked to morality and long-term consequences.
Firstly, in accordance with the profile of a business, the consequences can be disastrous both for people and environment. Every state has laws that regulates the conditions necessary for entrepreneurial activities. There are regulations for taxes, locations, work safety, pollution and so forth. Implementing all these rules supposes investments and expenditures that delays the favorable outcome of a firm. It is well known that many factories do not respect the regulations regarding waste disposal, polluting the nature and indirectly us. A few years ago I watched a movie with Julia Roberts, inspired from reality. A factory from a town in America, was discarding their waste into the water supply. As a result, many inhabitants got cancers, and most of them died.
Secondly, closing the eyes and pretending that nothing of these happens, is the worst legacy we can leave to our successors. We should learn from past mistakes and take actions to avoid the history to repeat. We should learn them to be constructive, to protect the world not to lie and engage in moves that harm also the other livings around us. We can not become better and survive on this planet, if we continue to do things from selfish reasons. For example, nowadays there are many industries that pollute the environment causing irreversible problems like global warming and sea level rise. In some states, like Maldive, the Government has started already to collect money in order to relocate the population. All the money that comes from the tourism of this paradise, is used for buying lands in other countries. Unfortunately a civilization is forced to be uprooted from their native places. At a second thought we might leave no legacy for our children at all, since we are on the way of destroying everything around us.
Taking all into account, I strongly oppose to those developers that infringe both moral and legal rules in order to gain personal advantages.
