Hi
esha12012000, thanks for reaching out. Our expertise is in MBA programs so I would go straight to the source and check with your target PhD programs on their GMAT ranges. For instance, I checked one school (Arizona State Carey) and they state that they give preference to applicants with 650+ GMAT scores and the average of admitted applicants was 695. So you're probably looking at targeting at least 700+ but even higher depending on which programs. As another example, Chicago Booth says the average GMAT for their incoming class of PhD students is 763.
As far as where to improve your profile, I would focus on demonstrating your interest in marketing and why you want to pursue that field (plus any specific research interests or professors you want to work with) so that you can write a strong personal statement. Also make sure you can demonstrate quantitative strength and the ability to conduct research.
Hope that helps some!
Kate
