Hi everyone.
I took the Gmat in the begining of january and got 640 (quant:44, verbal: 35), with a weak 4 for the AWA. I think that I can still get better results especially in quant. My problem is the same in the test simulations as it is in the real test: I am too slow (as I've always been at school).
I am very intersted in Msc in finance (finaance and investment also) or financial economics. I am targeting quite good universities in UK outside london (too expensive), such as Newcastle Uni, Nottingham Uni, Strathclyde and the likes. Outside UK, I'm intersted in San Gallen, Rotterdam RSM, and maybe some degrees in the university of Paris.
Here is my profile:
Undergraduated last summer from the best moroccan business school (public school), in finance and accounting, this degree last 4 years. Since then, I'm preparing the Gmat and the Toefl, and as soon as possible I'll try to get an internship in the financial sector. I decided against working, as I sent some applications last year (during my final year), but I haven't been accepted in Sheffield Uni, Southampton, Strathclyde for an Msc in finance. I was accepted though in the university of reading, but for a master of law in international corporate finance.
Therefore, for 6 months, I am not studying, nor working. How bad could this situation be, if one knows that I've decided to stay home because I want to steghten my application. (Or maybe should I say that I wanted this year to be a gap year if I were questionned).
Concerning my GPA: In Morocco, we follow the french system, which means that we are evaluated out of 20.
My overall undergrad mark is 12,40 which is an equivalent of a little bit more than 60 % . But the big problem (
) is that I had to resit my exams (some subjects) in the first and the second year. I thought that I could remedy this problem by the good marks I got in subjects related to finance (corporate finance, portfolio management ... ), but It wasn't sufficient in my attempts last year as I already said.
Experience:
1 month in a leading retail moroccan bank (front office)
1 month in a chartered accountant office (taxation)
3 months in an investment bank, the bank is the Maghreb's bank leader.( portfolio management)
Other activities: former member of a local association whose aim is the student's professional integration and that seeks to establish links between our school and professional in management as well as scholars trough conferences ...
As I already made applications in english, I have all the necessary documents prepared. Maybe I should review my statement of purpose.
Finally, After reading my profile would you advise me to retake the Gmat, and try to improve the quantitive part ?
Is there a score that I should reach to overcome my poor academic results.
Thank you in advance.
