I tried to search for this problem in the 'search' and was not very successful.
Just wanted to verify with the group, if this problem has a mistake...

If n is a positive integer, which of the following is a possible value of
|56 - 5n|?

A.7
B.9
C.12
D.15

Case 1: When n < 12 then |56 - 5n| = (a multiple of 5) + 1: None in the answers satisfies.

Case2: When n >= 12 then |56 - 5n| = (a multiple of 5) - 1: Only 9 satisfies this.

To solve this consider that |56-5n| can be both
a. 56-5n; and
b. -56-(-5n) or 5n-56.
Now take each of the answer choices and put in the 2 eqns
56-5n = ans; and
5n-56 = ans.
We will see that for only 1 eq, we will be able to solve the above eqns to get an integral value of n.
That is, on solving 5n-56=9, we get 5n=65 or n=13.
Thus, when we substitute n=13 in |56-5n|, we get |-9| = 9. Hence B is the answer.

56 - x should be divisible by 5

Only 9 in the answers choices satisfy the condition.

Straight B. This might be confusing because 56-5n can be negative as well.
For n=13, 56-5n = 56-65 = -9. Thus B

good prob I went upto n=11 and panicked since none of the answer choices were correct. Now I see that for n=13
Choice B is correct

B is the right answer

n=13 > 12
gives the answer as 9
