Program Overview
Purdue University’s MS (Marketing) program is aimed to develop tomorrow’s
marketing leaders who are analytically adept, technologically savvy, and
prepared for the challenges of doing business in today’s global markets. The
program provides students with a sound understanding of marketing concepts
and experience in their application in a wide variety of contexts through case
studies, critical thinking skills through case studies, active-learning projects,
immersion courses, and case competitions. Through a combination of theory
and application, the program is designed to impart the fundamentals of
interpreting marketing data and synthesizing the insights gathered from the
data into actionable steps and marketing decisions.
Target Audience
The MS (Marketing) program is designed to serve individuals seeking a
specialized marketing education, either immediately after graduation or after
acquiring some work experience.
• To the extent marketing is both an art and a science, students
specializing in marketing come from a variety of backgrounds and
experiences.
• A number of students specializing in marketing at Krannert have prior
backgrounds in STEM fields such as engineering, computer science,
health and human sciences, and statistics. The program is also a good
fit for students with degrees in liberal arts and social sciences also obtain
positive outcomes upon graduation from Purdue’s master’s programs
with marketing concentration.
Program Highlights
• Specialized Marketing Education: Purdue’s specialized MS program in
Marketing is designed to develop the breadth and depth of knowledge
and skills needed for a career in marketing.
• Customization Options: The choice of three marketing career tracks and
the availability of diverse consulting projects and immersion courses,
provides students a variety of opportunities to tailor the program to their
career plans.
• Active Learning: Experiential learning projects supervised by Purdue
faculty members help students turn expertise into experience, and
classroom knowledge and skills into career success.
• Immersion Courses: Students in groups of four or five have the
opportunity to select a subject for in-depth study consistent with their
career plans. The goal of the immersion elective courses is to offer
students the opportunity to acquire an in-depth knowledge around a
focused topic of interest to them. The immersion courses allow small
groups of participants to work closely with a Krannert faculty member
and an industry expert in the course subject.
• Corporate Mentorship: At the outset of the program, students are
matched with a Corporate Mentor from a 30-person Purdue Marketing
Advisory Board composed of marketing professionals from a broad
spectrum of industries. The Corporate Mentor provides career and
professional advice throughout the program.
