Sorry for a late reply with this. This is not a trivial feature, I will try to look into it later. Just curious - do not you think that 60-page threads are a bit of an anomaly in themselves?

Re: Search with in a Thread? [#permalink]
tino, the 60 page (now 94 page) threads are an anomaly, but quite a few threads have hit at least 4-5 pages with good information. The unfortunately thing about the 94 page threads is that a lot of it is single line "congrats" posts for each school, but there are some gems hidden in there with good advice to applicants that get lost in the mix... not sure how else to rectify this other than a search within thread function.

Re: Search with in a Thread? [#permalink]
Ok, just a quick sanity check - I see at the bottom of every page a little box that says "Search". When I enter keywords and do search in it, it appears to me that it only searches the current thread. Did you miss that or am I missing something? Is it insufficient?

Re: Search with in a Thread? [#permalink]
Kryzak, concerning the hidden gems, this actually bamboozles me. Search rectifies the problem partially. Another idea is kudoing the gems so that they show up in Best Posts. But as the Kudos is yet rudimentary, it is not very helpful.

So basically I still believe that the best place for the general good advice to applicants is on the School pages in the wiki... We installed a new editor recently, did you check it out yet? Hopefully it will make things a bit simpler.

Re: Search with in a Thread? [#permalink]
thanks Tino, will give the search and the new wiki tools a try. Been crazy busy at work and trying to sell my place... very little time these days to do much other than read some threads and do quick replies... will have more time later in March though.

I think I may just comb through some schools (maybe assign some to the mods who are in those schools, or have the new "ambassadors" for each school do it) and update that school's wikis...
